Sun Dog is back, and this time we’re taking over Northgate Shopping Centre (well, one storefront at least) to bring you a full day of free events and activities to satisfy your artistic cravings. We’ll be setting up shop in the old Spirit Halloween location (near the food court) on Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00 am – 5:30 pm. Find out more below!

CREATIVE ARTS MARKET

Want to find out more about North Bay’s vibrant arts scene, but not sure where to start? Why not check out our Creative Arts Market! Local artists and arts groups from across the arts community will be setting up tables and booths to showcase their work and provide information about their practices. Some will have works available for sale as well, so you might be able to find that perfect gift or a great new book to read. Hope to see you there!
IMPROV FOR BEGINNERS WORKSHOP
With Masha & Matthew from the Gateway Theatre Guild

Improv, short for improvisation, is a dynamic form of live theatre where performers create scenes, dialogue, and characters on the spot without a script. Join Masha and Matthew in their improv workshop suitable for all ages and levels of experience. Together, they will guide you through the fundamentals of improv using engaging games and exercises. Get ready to unleash your imagination and have a blast exploring the world of improvisational theatre!
SIMPLY SING VOCAL WORKSHOP
With vocal coach Tammy Frederick from Simply Sing Vocal Arts Studio
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Participants will have the opportunity to delve into a section of a well-known musical theatre song and sing it together as a group. In this engaging 1-hour session attendees will be led through vocal exercises and provided with tools to improve their singing skills, all while exploring the fundamentals of breathing and vocal mechanics. This workshop is inclusive of all ages and welcomes participants with no prior singing experience. It promises a fun and interactive experience tailored to enhance everyone’s singing capabilities.
CONSPIRACY OF 3 LITERARY READING
2:15 pm – 3:15 pm
The Conspiracy of 3 is the longest surviving literary readings series in Canada. The conspiring has been occurring for over three decades on the second Tuesday evening of every month—virtually without a single cancellation. The series takes its name from its format of three approximately 20-minute sets. For this event, the first two sets will be devoted to two featured writers, while the third set will be an open mic session where anyone can share a brief literary work, poem, or spoken word piece with the audience. Everyone is welcome, so come join the conspiracy!
MONOLOGUE JAM
3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Sun Dog Theatre Festival is thrilled to announce the return of the Monologue Jam for another exciting year! Following the success of the 2023 event, we are expanding the jam to include short scenes as well. Whether you have a captivating monologue or a dynamic two- or three-person scene to share, we invite you to showcase your talent.
