As a not for profit organization, ON THE EDGE Fringe makes do with what we have. We love what we do and are proud to disperse arts funding back into our community with the funding support we receive. The not-for-profit part of our name means we make sure we have just enough to keep existing, and to support artists as best we can, while also trying to support ourselves. But that also means that we make do.
We have made our home over the last few years in the old H & E Brown Building on McIntyre St. Is it pretty? No. Is it a little dirty? Yes. Do we sometimes share the space with pigeons? Also yes. It is what our organization can afford and we’ve made it beautiful in our own way.
This year, to make the space a little more Fringe than frayed, we are bringing in an artist who’s work personifies love, unity, and lightness.
Corbin Elliot will don the Fringe Warehouse hallway with a mural that welcomes all who walk through the threshold with art that symbolizes joy, love, and creative expression.
About the Artist:
Corbin Elliot is a painter, muralist, and illustrator working and residing in North Bay, Ontario. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from Nipissing University in 2022. Upon graduation, he served as Buexhibition within the same institution, along with various other displays of his artwork throughout the northern regions of Ontario. Elliot explores an artistic practice focused on the relationships of environment, identity, unity and the cycles of life. Primarily active in painting, he creates imagery that experience with whimsy, he balances simplified and sophisticated forms within thoughtfully balanced compositions. Through contemporary, innovative approaches, his paintings often transcend the boundaries of their own surfaces, creating a visceral experience within each artwork.
