Satsuki Sakurai and the Blade of Broken Bonds
Company: Blue-Tinted Fortress
Written & directed by: Mari Wilson-Higuchi & Nick Moss
New work: Yes
Runtime: 60 Minutes
Satsuki Sakurai, a 21 year old deadbeat, wakes up on her birthday to a very unpleasant surprise. The spirit of her recently deceased grandmother (Yuriko) has come to deliver her birthright; a cursed sword (the titular Blade of Broken Bonds) which has been passed down matrilineally for centuries. This curse demands that each woman of the Sakurai family must use the blade to kill all who’ve broken a bond with them. This means Satsuki has to (with the help of her grandmother and the emotional support of her best friend June, of course) pay a visit to each of her old flames, Richard, Tyler, and Sloane, and feed The Blade their souls. Of course, this isn’t as simple as it seems. Not only do some of these exes have other plans, but The Blade itself starts to encroach on Satsuki’s life force every minute. She will fight and she will win, but at what cost?
