Schedule Change

Due to scheduling conflicts Lee Maracle and Aanmitaagzi are have requested the collaborative workshops of August 16th be moved to Friday, August 14th. Sorry for the inconvenience.

BREAKING TEXT: August 14th & 15th, the Fish Collective is presenting “Breaking Text” a series of literary readings, performances, spoken word, dance poetry and much more. We will be presenting at the Big Medicine Studio (161 Couchie Memorial Drive) in partnership with Aanmitaagzi and the ON THE EDGE fringe festival.

Through “Breaking Text”, artists explore identity and space in a variety of ways including spoken word, poetry, literary readings, performances as well as media art and text based installations. Presentations relate to many things including geographic relevance, current local and national politics, social constraints, environmental concerns and, of course, the human condition both from the stand point of an artists but also viewing things through a cultural lens.

Through “Breaking Text”, we connect our locality to larger conversations to talk about our history and our future. Our goal is to challenge our audience and create a performance that celebrates the bizarre and encourages questions within our local region towards the conditions in which we exist. The future is safe because it’s in all our hands and through our revolutionary-like social responses we challenge modern day society.

SCHEDULE:
August 14th collaborative workshop with Lee Maracle 1:30pm – 3:30pm.
August 15th readings and performances, doors open at 7pm ending at 12:30am
